Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect some or all of the following:

  • Ages of children under 15 in your party (for safety purposes)

  • Payment information (processed securely through our booking system)
  • How you found out about us

We only ever ask for information we genuinely need. We do not collect sensitive personal data such as health information, ethnic background, or political views.

Under the UK GDPR, we must have a lawful reason for using your personal data. Here is how and why we use yours:

To fulfil your booking and deliver our tours
We use your contact and booking details to confirm your reservation and keep you informed of any changes. Legal basis: Contract.

To ensure your safety on the water
We record the ages of younger passengers for safety briefings and appropriate seating. Legal basis: Contract / Legitimate interest.

To communicate with you
We use your contact details to respond to your enquiries. Legal basis: Contract.

To keep our financial records
We retain sailing sheet records for VAT and tax inspection purposes. Legal basis: Legal obligation.

To send you news, offers, or updates
We may send you email newsletters, but only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing oban@seafari.co.uk or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send. Legal basis: Consent.

4. How Long We Keep Your Information

We do not keep your personal data for any longer than we need to.

Name, phone number, party size, ages of children under 15
Kept on our hard copy sailing sheets for 7 years to meet VAT and tax obligations.

Booking details (name, email, payment information)
Held on our online booking system until you ask us to delete them.

Email correspondence
Deleted after 5 years.

5. Where Your Information Is Stored

All personal data we hold is stored within the United Kingdom and is subject to the full protections of the UK GDPR.

Your booking information is held on our online booking system, hosted by a UK-based server provider. Access is restricted to our trained ticket office team and our technical support provider, solely for the purpose of maintaining the booking system.

We do not transfer your personal data outside the UK.

6. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for commercial or marketing purposes.

The only exception is if we are legally required to do so — for example, if ordered by a court, or if required to comply with a legal obligation or the instructions of a government authority.

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time.
