We thought you may like to know what some of our “old” team members are doing now – what have they been up to since they left Seafari? Last week we caught up with Allan Laycock – this week we have been reminiscing with “Tedward” or Ted Creek as he is more commonly known!

TED CREEK

“Ted of the Antarctic”

What season did you work for Seafari Adventures?

2013

In what capacity did you work for Seafari Adventures?

Crew and Wildlife guide plus doing the “wet” jobs like cleaning the moorings and all the joyous dirty jobs!

A very young looking Ted in his first weeks at Seafari.

What is your favourite memory of your time with Seafari?

Snorkelling to clean the moorings in the sound when dolphins swam through inviting me to swim with them. Unfortunately, I was in my dry suit with no weight belt so they were very disappointed with my diving attempts ! [Not jealous at all – ED]

Ted showing off his diving skills, no dolphins though.

Did you ever fall in ? If so, details please!

No, but I got very close a few times!

Favourite place on Easdale island?

Up at the allotments on a sunny day stealing Jess’s peas off the plant and looking at the views (I think Jess was a bit confused why they didn’t grow that year !)

Favourite bit of the Corryvreckan Wildlife Tour?

The Grey Dogs and explaining how cool oceanography is!

So, what have you been up to since leaving Seafari?

I spent a couple of years working for Tony and Jess’s son, Iain, in the commercial side of the business on bird surveys and supporting tidal turbine research and development. Since then I have mainly been on expedition cruise ships in the Western isles, Caribbean, Svalbard, Greenland and Antarctica.

What are you currently doing?

When th Covid pandemic first hit, I was stuck off the coast of Montevideo for a couple of weeks and now cruise ship work has obviously evaporated. So, I recently took up an Assistant Marina Manager role in Portavadie to help save up for my own tripping business on the west coast which hopefully Seafari will let you know about! [We’ll think about that! – Ed]

Many thanks to Ted for taking the time to catch up with us – keep an eye on this blog for your next “old crew” update!
